Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived

robRob Bell, is an author, motivational speaker and former pastor, wrote Love Wins in 2011.  An instant classic but maybe not the way Bell intended.  As I’m writing this review of Love Wins, people around the globe are arguing the truth behind it.   I find it wonderful that a book is so rich people continue to discuss it.  While reading this book, I had people tell me the book is not based on Scripture , on the other hand, I have had ministers say it is clearly based on Scripture, hence the controversy.

Bell tackles the difficult subjects of Heaven and Hell and how they fit into salvation.  Many Christians struggle with the idea that their God created mankind but only a few of God’s creation reach Heaven.  Bell believes the teachings of Jesus have been hijacked and, using Scripture, he shows how most people have been approaching heaven, hell and salvation from the wrong perspective.  Bell’s thoughts, obviously caused an uproar in the Christian community in a negative and positive way.

Why do Christians struggle with these questions?   Bell believes God wants us to face these questions, so Christians may have a richer and fuller life.  Bell’s book is a positive one, as he believes God wants all of his children in heaven and like the story of the Prodigal Son, Jesus will stand and wait for each person to return home no matter how long it takes.

The book is written in question form, so it is perfect for small group discussions.  After reading Love Wins, I liked it very much and enjoyed looking at God’s word in a different way.  This book is valuable even if the reader agrees with nothing the author puts forth.  Take the time and read this book regardless of your religious back ground.
