We are consumed with what’s not good for us in relationships. Women like the bad boy types. Men surveyed preferred women with red or blonde hair because they believe them to be more fun. When it comes to marriage, many women look for a provider and many men like women with brown hair, since they are believed to be more responsible mates. Marriage for some, is more like business proposal not for love even if it’s an unconscious decision. Obviously, this is not true for all but the pattern can be seen in society.
The same is true with parents and children. Children as they get older, children tend to show their affection for the parent who nonexistent or abusive. The parent who sacrifices their life, so their children will have a better life is ripe for being taking advantage of in the long run. Familiarity causes boredom and the unknown parent becomes a mystery and the need to unravel the mystery is strong. The abusive parent makes the child want to seek approval from that parent. Only a mature and selfless child has a chance to escape the trap.
